Keeping it bright: fall/winter style
By leily on Feb 4, 2008 in Women’s fashion
I will admit that I did suffer a little bit for wearing this (as the wind whipped around my legs, hoping to not pull a Marilyn on this particularly warm but very windy day). But dammit, I really wanted to wear this.
We all know how easy it is to wear muted or dark colors during the winter. People seem to think that wearing brights are reserved for spring/summer or cleaning the highways. But I think that there are easy ways to get around that. There are still many "bright" colors, that aren't neon, aren't in your face, or crazy. I tried to channel that with this outfit. And to be honest, I started with the socks and built up the whole outfit around it. Mostly inspired by an old post of Agathe's about wanting yellow socks.
Socks, then the shoes, then the dress. I got stuck with the top, cause I needed to be warm, and there isn't much to match once everything else is a different color. I finally picked this sweater, and I'm glad I did. I really like how this whole outfit turned out in the end.

Sweater: Banana Republic on sale $20
Dress: Urban outfitters $5
Belt:Target $14
Socks: $1
Shoes: vintage sandal heels $20 consignment store
Nothing really matches, but I like how the sweater and the socks really pop. I would have never guessed all these colors would have worked together were it not for those little yellow socks.
