Gothic fashion is usually stereotyped as a dark, sometimes morbid, eroticized fashion and style of dress. Typical Gothic fashion includes black dyed hair and black clothes and both male and female goths wear dark eyeliner and dark fingernails. Styles are often inspired from the Elizabethans and Victorians.(Wikipedia)
This October, two magazines opted to have a fashion showdown across their pages. Vogue Italy and Flair magazine let every reader decide on whose Gothic fashion is the best.

The October issue of Vogue Italia features a sort of a black widow-harlequin look. The models were dressed in see-through black lace with diamond patters, chiffon and long evening gloves. They also used black balloons and grapes as accessories. One can clearly see that they have a sort of retro-modern, avant-garde, Gothic image.

On the other hand, Flair magazine had a set of pictures called “Gotica”. The pictures are mostly black and white with splashes of color. A model is photographed with pale bare-chested men who are made up to look like zombies who seem to be battling for her soul. The backgrounds are eerie and sometimes ghostly, feels like you’re in a horror movie.

Despite the resurgence in dresses, many women like to wear trousers everyday. Pants are practical for the business woman and manlike looks always change to classic style.
The 2 fashionable autumn styles are the easy high waisted flared pants from boot cut to the widest 1970s flares.
But the style getting attention is a slim line version of the peg-top trouser line, which was in fashio in 1980sn. These peg-top pants sometimes now called CARROT SHAPED TROUSERS taper to the ankle, and usually have tuck pleat fullness at the waistband. This style can be very flattering if you have a paunch. Note that too much fullness can make a woman look frumpy. Yves saint Laurent as the centre image shows, did it best. This was sharp and sophisticated designing.
So on-trend, carrot-shaped trousers are not easy to pull off. Experiment with the look and don this pair from H&M teamed with sharp shirts…
Finally the skinny leather pant is a catwalk fashion coming to a shop near you this autumn.

Have you imagined yourself in a strange land? You’re with people who weren’t dressed like do, who ate food that seemed exotic to you, who follows a different faith and who belonged to another raise. How will you mingle with them? How will you bridge the culture gap? What will you do to mix in with the crowd?
Carmen Kass was in these dilemmas as presented in the editorial of Vogue Nippon October issue, entitled Stranger in a Strange Land. Photographed by Yelena Yemchuk, Carmen was in French and Italian gowns amidst traditional Japanese kimonos.

I am like 2 weeks too late, but it would be a great shame for me to skip over the Chloe collection, a brand which I’ll always have a soft spot for. It would also be a shame to miss this collection, because this is Hannah MacGibbon’s first collection at the helm of Chloe. Mr.Toledo finally gave the boot to Paulo Melim Andersson, who’s aesthetics was clearly at odds with the classic Chloe girl. I shudder thinking about the last collection . Fortunately for us, MacGibbons seems to have a much better grasp of what Chloe is supposed to be about- and she should, having spent five years working at Chloe under Phoebe!
A few things that stood out, that MacGibbon brought to the table. First, there is this very interestingly structured top design (left). I’m not sure how practical it is, but it is definitely cute, girly and innovative.
Then there were the scallop-edges everywhere (right). Not too sure how I feel about them though. They’re feminine and very clever in that memorable way- next season when I see scallop-edged clothing, I’d definitely think of Chloe. On the other hand though, the scallop-edges around the shoulders and sleeves, kind of makes the model look as if they’ve been pinned up to an invisible wall.
I much prefer the scallop-edges (or “dinosaur scales”) at the Christopher Kane runway. These are refreshing, innovative but still very flattering and pretty at the same time.
Back on the Chloe runway, I am finally seeing the Chloe girl. That relaxed and effortlessly chic girl on the streets.
Personally, I am loving the richly colored, silky evening wear. It is evening but not overly formal- perfect for a fun night out. Very girl and definitely very youthful…maybe even a bit too youthful, what with the fluttering sleeves and poofy skirts (right). Nevertheless, I definitely see many starlets wearing it in the season to come.
Lastly, let’s not forget the shoes. I love how it is so simple and wearable-looking- which means I can potentially wear something similar next season! The shoes on other runways are so sky high that I trip even imagining myself in them!

Who said that fashion and politics don’t mix? Well, he or she is wrong. Today, politics are evidently entering the world of fashion. We can see political phrases and slogans on some items of clothing that advertise specific candidates or political parties.
Sarah Palin is not the only politician who is setting fashion trends. Barack Obama is also becoming a fashion icon. After being featured in Andrew Christian’s Obama ‘08 boxer briefs, he was also featured on the runways of Paris in the Jean-Charles de Castelbajac show. Obama’s face can be seen on a sporty yellow sequined dress and was completed with a matching gloves that said YES and NO.

Some famous fashion designers including Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs, Rag & Bone and Derek Lam produce merchandise for Obama’s official online store .
Moreover, Hollywood celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Madonna and Halle Berry said yes to Obama as they pledge their allegiance to him by regularly wearing Obama tee shirts.

In addition to the list, Drew Barrymore gets into the election season spirit on the cover of November’s Harper’s Bazaar. Like lots of other celebrities, she wants to encourage young people to vote while at the same time endorses Barack Obama.
