Kristin Davis, sweet and pretty. Nothing shocking here, she always looks nicely put together.

I don’t know about this. I love
Mischa’s hair but am not crazy about the dress.
Did you think Jennifer Lopez would skip a big event to stay home with her babies? Of course not! Naturally she’s got the bling dripping from her ears, wrists, neckline and purse.

If I was able to attend the Costume Institute Gala, I would chose a dress like this one. I’d layer some bejeweled necklaces, style my hair in a wild array of curls and wear flat sandals. A girl can dream.
Kate Moss is so gorgeous, she knows what to wear at these events, great dress. And
Stella McCartney is wearing something vegan and hemp.
If Victoria Beckham knew how that sourpuss expression aged her, I bet she’d smile more. And if you didn’t know her, you’d guess she was a fifty- year -old high society matron who disapproves of everyone.

Is this whats meant by a “
hot mess“?
MK Olsen’s shoulders are hunched, her makeup is ghostly, her hair, what’s with her hair? The dress is ill fitting. What up little billionaire? Her sister Ashley looks all right by comparison. At least her hair is combed.
Katie’s blue shoes sticking out from the hem of her red dress reminds me of the witch being crushed by the house in the Wizard of Oz, all that showed were the ruby shoes. In this case, the sapphire shoes. Instead of a Wicked Witch there’s Xenu. Tom is like a little elf in a tux.

I understand where
Kate Bosworth is coming from what, with her bright eyeshadow (no doubt MAC!) and the funky dress. She wants to look a little different, funky and out of the ordinary which is all cool. But. The shoes don’t work for me. If that dress is beaded, it must be heavvvvy.
Oh, like a Lite Brite!

Uh oh, who hit the spray tan booth? A mystic tan for Mr. Armani!
Julia Roberts can clean up nicely. She goes from wearing Clarks and baggy pants and a knitted sweater to a gorgeous gown looking all glowy and soft.

Oh honey, no.
Jennifer Connelly is gorgeous with the black hair and green eyes, slim figure. She has so much going for her. Why chose an ugly dress that looks like a starched linen napkin up top?

Body image issues? I think not.
Gisele lets her boobs out front, center and sides for the night. It takes a very confident woman to wear this. I couldn’t and wouldn’t. And you wouldn’t want me to.

On someone else this dress wouldn’t work. But on
Dita VonTeese, she looks terrific.
Beyonce’s soft pink dress compliments her skin beautifully. Everyone is whispering that she’s got a baby bump. I don’t know….can’t a girl eat some carbs?
Anna Wintour’s gown is a cross between a costume from Battlefield Earth and a silver plated armadillo. Ugly!

I have said over and over that I am a big fan of Olay products. They are reasonably priced, easy to get, and do good things for my skin. Looking back on my past posts, I have done several reviews of Olay’s Regenerist line of products. I am now turning my attention to their Definity goods.
Olay Definty offers a line of highly defined skin care containing Essential Glucosamine Complex, designed to penetrate up to 10 surface layers deep to improve the appearance of dull, uneven skin tone. Definity products hydrate to allow the rebuilding of collagen as well as replace the appearance of discolorations. Definity products are designed to leave skin looking luminous. Sounds good to me!
Over the next few weeks, I am, along with a few of my family members, going to test out the following products. I’ll give you an overview soon.
- Olay Definity Deep Penetrating Foam Moisturizer: an aerated serum less dense than a lotion or cream, but with equal penetration performance. The Foaming Moisturizer’s unique aerated structure has more than 15 times the volume of an ordinary moisturizer and covers 50% more area than a cream, but feels virtually weightless on the skin. It is easier to spread than a cream or serum, hence more even skin coverage, and, in clinical studies, proved to have a greater impact in improving the look of wrinkles compared to other traditional forms.
- Olay Definity Correcting Protective Lotion with SPF 15: broad spectrum UV-protection works together with Olay exclusive Essential Glucosamine Complex to fight the appearance of skin discolorations while helping prevent future sun damage to the skin, such as discolorations, fine lines, and wrinkles. The Protective Lotion also provides an immediate luminous effect that helps correct the appearance of color imperfections.
- Olay Definity Intense Hydrating Cream: luxurious cream contains the highest levels of glycerin in the line to provide hydration deep into multiple layers of skin. This deep hydrator provides an immediate luminosity benefit while also reducing the appearance of discolorations and wrinkles.
I’ll let you know how all of of this goes. I am also trying out Olay Definity Night Restorative Sleep Cream and an Olay Definity face scrub. I’m going to have beautiful skin in no time–hopefull!

Just because it’s a cloudy day or just because it’s not summer doesn’t mean you don’t need to worry about UV exposure. You should be taking steps every day, no matter the weather or time of year, to keep yourself protected from the sun’s harmful rays. Here are some tips from the Skin Cancer Foundation to keep yourself protect year round:
Use a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher whenever you spend time outdoors.
- This applies to all outdoor activities: athletics, shopping, picnicking, walking or jogging, gardening , even waiting for a bus.
- Choose a sunscreen with ingredients that block both UVA and UVB rays.
- Apply liberally and evenly to all exposed skin. The average adult in a bathing suit should use approximately one ounce of sunscreen per application. Not using enough will effectively reduce the product’s SPF and the protection you get.
- Be sure to cover often-missed spots: lips, ears, around eyes, neck, scalp if hair is thinning, hands, and feet.
- Reapply at least every 2 hours, more often if some of the product may have been removed while swimming, sweating, or towel-drying.
- Choose a product that suits your skin and your activity. Sunscreens are available in lotion, gel, spray, cream, and stick forms. Some are labeled as water resistant, sweatproof, or especially for sports; as fragrance-free, hypoallergenic, or especially for sensitive skin or children.
Cover up.
- Wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants. Tightly woven fabrics and dark colors, such as deep blue and black, or bright colors, such as orange and red, offer more protection. If you can see light through a fabric, UV rays can get through too. Water makes fabrics more translucent, so do not rely on a wet T-shirt.
- A broad-brimmed hat goes a long way toward preventing skin cancer in often-exposed areas like the neck, ears, scalp, and face. Opt for a 3-4 inch brim that extends all around the hat. Baseball caps and visors shade the face but leave neck, lower face, and ears exposed.
- UV-blocking sunglasses with wraparound or large frames protect your eyelids and the sensitive skin around your eyes, common sites for skin cancer and sun-induced aging. Sunglasses also help reduce the risk of cataracts later in life.
Seek the shade.
- Be aware, however, that sunlight bouncing off reflective surfaces can reach you even beneath an umbrella or a tree.
Never seek a tan.
- There is no such thing as a healthy tan . A tan is the skin’s response to the sun’s damaging rays.
Stay away from tanning parlors and artificial tanning devices.
- The UV radiation emitted by indoor tanning lamps is many times more intense than natural sunlight. Dangers include burns, premature aging of the skin, and the increased risk of skin cancer.
Protect your children and teach them sun safety at an early age.
- Healthy habits are best learned young . Because skin damage occurs with each unprotected exposure and accumulates over the course of a lifetime, sun safety for children should be a priority.

Brand: Burt’s Bees
Name: Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
Size: 0.15 oz / 4.25 g
Approx. Price: $4.99 CAD
I was desperate to find a product that would ail my horribly chapped lips and lip area, so I headed to my local Shoppers Drug Mart and picked up this lip balm. I’ve been using Lip Medex up to now, but I wanted to try something more “natural”. I’ve tried some Burt’s Bees products in the past (cuticle cream and a Lemon-Lime Lip Gloss) and although I wasn’t BLOWN away with the results, I have heard great things about their lip balms.
Burt’s Bees describes how their lip balm works (on their website): “This replenishing and hydrating natural lip balm is infused with the antioxidant goodness of Pomegranate oil. It replenishes moisture and restores texture to reveal smooth, healthy lips, and coats them for a smooth, even-toned appearance.”
To Purr About:- nice subtle scent/taste of pomegranates
- light feeling, not heavy/waxy
- “all-natural”
Claws Out:
- not very moisturizing
- doesn’t last very long - meaning lots of re-application
- no SPF
Final Comments:
I used this product religiously for a few weeks to try to wean myself away from relying too heavily on Blistex’s Lip Medex product, but I was finding myself having to reapply every few minutes (no exaggeration). And although it worked to soothe my heavily chapped lips, I was definitely wanting for more lasting time. I will probably re-try it when the weather is less dry.
Rating (out of 5):

Ahh, the most important annual fashion party, the Costime Institute Gala was held last night, chaired by Anna Wintour, Julia Roberts and George Clooney. I big huh? on the two celebrity chairpeople, since I can’t remember them being particularly linked with fashion. They didn’t even dress up to the theme! And even though I can’t decide whether to think Anna looked like a Chanel-clad space alien, I feel like we shoudl all appreciate that she’s obviously super responsible and dressed up for the theme.
The theme was Superheroes: Fashion and Fantasy. Most people looked nice -afterall, celebrities and models are pretty people in general, and they have their pick of expensive dresses. But it’s such a waste and bore when people don’t actually dress up to the theme. What’s the point and fun when you don’t? Anyway, here are my favourite dresses from last night.
My absolute favourite dress from the night was Christina Ricci’s dress. I LOVE the red corset at the center (-very Wonder Woman,) and the pink chiffon-like material covering and flowing around her is just so pretty. The dress is kind of costume-y, but it’s still such a normal gorgeous dress. Ricci just looks so cute and pretty!
My other favourite dress is Kate Bosworth’s vintage Chanel couture dress. I love the colourful, sequinned print on the dress. And I like the cut -it’s unique and not like all the other huge puffy dresses around. Plus the shoes! Her outfit isn’t very obviously superheroes-themed, but hey, she obviously tried! The dress, the shoes and her makeup -everything is so colourful and metallic! In some odd way, the equally shiny Karl Lagerfeld’s black and white outfit complements on dress!
Not a fan of Mary Kate’s dress, but Ashley’s dress is so nice and simple, yet those cut-outs make the dress sort-of into the theme. I wish Ashley added some colour somewhere but she just looks so pretty!
That acqua colour looks gorgeous on Camilla Belle. I think the should strap is what makes the dress sort of superhero-ish.
I usually love everything Diane Kruger wears on the red carpet. Her outfit last night was really fun and young-looking. I can’t say I love the dress, but the whole outfit is cute.
Katie Holmes really bothered with dressing up for the superheroes theme. The dress is a bit Disney-ish -it’s long, A-lined, sequinned and red. And those blue shoes -a bit Wonder Woman (except the costume isn’t tight and short) isn’t it? Her makeup looks a bit scary in this photo, but it looks better closeup.
That’s it. Like I said, many people looked pretty, but I liked these because they went with the theme and looked gorgeous. Which were your favourite and least favourite dresses?

Agent Provocateur has released a new set of ads featuring model Kate Moss with the theme of sheer horror. These ads have very different setting compared to the photos that appeared last month that were romantic, pink and full of hope.
Agent Provocateur’s White Wedding ads depicts Kate Moss in a surreal world of bleeding heads, skulls, and crossbones. The first of six videos of ad stills that can be viewed at Showstudio were shot by Nick Knight and were based on a script written by Joe Corré’s , Founder of Agent Provacateur. The script aims to project the “the demise of a bride’s ‘big day’ and serialise the unravelling of the religious organisation behind it”. Knight along with artists Jake and Dinos Chapman have created the following scenes:
Scene 1: The Happiest Day of Her Life

Scene 2: The Garden of Eden

Scene3: Bad News

Scene 4: Frenzy

Scene 5: Revenge

Scence 6: Let Them Eat Kate
