Product Review: CoverGirl TruBlend Pressed Mineral Foundation »

Reviewer: S.K.Y.

Brand: CoverGirl
Name: TruBlend Pressed Mineral Foundation
Size: 11 g / 0.39 oz
Approx. Price: $12.99 CAD

Shade Tried: 2 / Creamy Natural

I’ve been wanting to try mineral makeup after reading all the positive feedback, but haven’t been able to take the plunge due to the sometimes high prices. So I was pretty excited to find out that CoverGirl has introduced its new line of mineral makeup. It seemed like an affordable way for me to try mineral makeup.

“Get healthy-looking, flawless coverage that feels barely there! NEW TruBlend Minerals Pressed Mineral Foundation is a blend of pure, micro-fine minerals that’s so silky-smooth, it goes on powder-light to cover like a liquid and help conceal imperfections beautifully.”

To Purr About:
- available in 6 shades
- very convenient compact for the person-on-the-go
- very light and airy feeling
- looks very natural
- affordable price
- has a bit of a shimmer which leaves skin with a subtle healthy glow
- doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin

Claws Out:
- included brush doesn’t allow for blending into skin well
- no mirror included in compact
- makes a mess if you accidentally drop it like I did
- doesn’t really allow for additional moisturizer after makeup application

Final Comments:
I’ve been using this foundation in combination with a face primer, blush, and a veil mineral powder for more than a month now and I am very impressed. It’s very light and blends into my skin well giving me a naturally flawless look. I will definitely be a repeat customer of this product.

My only beef is that because it’s winter and my skin is very dry, I often need to apply additional moisturizer to my face after I’m done applying my makeup. I don’t think this last step goes well with mineral makeup. If anyone out there has found the solution to this problem – please let me know!

Now if only there was a way to carry around ALL the mineral makeup easily & compactly…

The Longest Nails Owners »

Chayllala Sridhara, a resident of India, has the total length of nails of 6 meters 15 centimeters, making it into the Guinness Book of World Records. Sridhara has long nails only on his left hand, on the right one they are usual. The desire to grow his fingernails came to Sridhara at a young age - he wanted to do something that will surprise everyone (and he succeeded).

Once, after reading about a Chinese guy with long nails, he thought that “… could do that too and get into the record book.” Growing such long fingernails is no easy task. He said: “Over the past 48 years my nails brought me a lot of inconvenience. It is difficult to sleep, and I had to do everything with the right arm. I had to walk, write, ride a bicycle, but I achieved what I wanted. “

But, if Sridhara has long nails only on his left hand, Lee Redmond - a resident of Salt Lake City in the United States, has long nails on both hands! “In the distant 1979″ - says Lee Redmond - “I had too little time to take care of them.” And now, 29 years later, her fingernails grew to the point that hit the Guinness Book of World Records.

Her record officially is registered as the longest nails on the hands. And, as Lee says, the nails absolutely do not hinder her to cook, clean, wash dishes and take care of her husband, suffering from Alzheimer disease. Her nails are so unusual that, at times, frighten children. The length of her nails is not more or less than 33 inches or 84 centimeters! To keep nails in the proper form, Lee cleans them with a toothbrush, makes constantly the manicure and, once a week, arranges for a special nail tub of warm solution and enhancing olive oil.

Here is one funny video with her. Enjoy!

Stud Earrings »

When I first got my ears pierced back in high school, I only ever wore studs. They were simple, cheap (25hkd/ 3usd for a pair) and most importantly, super easy to wear. I would have one pair on and not have to take it off for a few months at a time. Sure, my habit with earrings wasn’t particularly stylish or exciting, but I didn’t know about the variety of earrings out there and I was mainly concerned about keeping the skin from growing back. Then I grew up and realised that there are so many pretty and wide range of earrings out there that I stopped buying studs. At the same time, I got even lazier (as if it was possible,) and I’ve been wearing earrings only about once a month, again just to keep my ears pierced. I’ve mainly been buying long, dangly earrings and usually only wear them for nights out.
But recently, I bought a pair of pale green, rose studs (like the image above,) and now I’m addicted! I’ve never really worn colourful earrings before so that was a new thing for me. Also, wearing studs just suddenly seemed so much simplier and easier compared to dangly earrings and hoops. So now I’m on a lookout for studs. I want them simple, but not boring.
The ones I want to avoid are the ones that spell out the brand name. Most of them look a bit tacky and just simply too obvious. The only ones I think are potentially cute are Chanel ones -not really sure why.
This pair of wing studs by Giles & Brothers is SO cool! I love them! The details to the metal make the earrings look stylish in that vintage-y way.
I’ve always wanted something that had skulls on it but I never thought they were worth it. I think this pair is ok though-it’s got tiny crystals in the eyes so it would look more designed and hopefully less juvenile. Yes, I know skulls are so two seasons ago but I still like them. This pair is by Tom Binns.
Even though I usually prefer things to be symmetrical, I think these are too cute to dislike. I prefer the XO pair by Giles & Brother, but the LOVE studs by Jennifer Zener are really cute too!
I usually think style items in the shape of lips look cheap and tacky, but I think this pair is done really well and are quite adorable! Although for 242usd, they really should look classier than most! Gosh, I really need to keep an eye out for any sales and discounts now!
Sure, stud earrings aren’t the epitome of the earring trend (whatever it is at the moment), but they just look too charming and easy to wear to resist!
