I thought this week would be a “comeback” of sorts. I had everything planned for my reviews this week, and then…another stomach bug. Half the office seems to have it. I make a solemn vow that soon I will have more than one post a week about perfume!
Today I’m feeling much better, and I’ve decided to go all springy and try Diorissimo, even though it’s a bit rainy and not super warm. I’m hopeful.
What are all of you, my friends, wearing today…or this weekend? Are you trying something new, or wearing an old favorite? Either way, I hope it enhances a happy weekend!

There are ways that almost anyone can have beautiful skin they can be proud of; some simple changes to your skin care regime which you will learn here will make all the difference. In the West, women have taken the task of staying attractive to extremes with the use of plastic surgery, liposuction and other invasive treatments. The financial benefit of beauty care products over conventional cosmetic surgery is huge but there are also health benefits which any other type of cosmetic enhancement procedure cannot match.
It is no longer fair to just consider beauty care products as those used be the elderly like anti-aging products. The number of products available is huge and continues to grow; all designed to improve the health and beauty of the skin. We often forget that our skin is an organ that needs looking after as it has a difficult job to and needs regular help.
The first step in skin care is making sure your skin is clean as pollution like dust, bacteria and make-up all take their toll, so the skin must be clean. Gently massage your cleanser into your skin in circular motions using your fingertips and then rinse off with warm water but only pat your skin with a soft towel to dry it.
To ensure your PH balance is not disrupted, you will need to use a tone after the cleanser has been applied. Lotions and moisturizers massaged into the skin help to reduce the effect of wrinkles and ensure the skin is more supple. Moisturizing also has the added bonus of locking in the moisture that can be lost without its use, so do not skimp on this beauty care product.
Each week, at least once, and as part of your skin care regime you should exfoliate the skin to remove dead cells which will help provide a deeper cleanse. It is important to remove all traces of the peel or exfoliant so you will need to cleanse the skin and then tone and moisturize as normal.
For those people that suffer with puffy or baggy skin below the eyes, formulated beauty care product creams are able to help alleviate this problem making the skin much suppler and improving its elasticity. Taking some form of daily exercise and drinking plenty of water are two things you don’t need to spend a fortune on but will really improve the skin tone and feel. It is not a good idea to forget the important role our skin plays in our overall health and of course how we look so taking care of it is not just about vanity.

I swear, Lurve made me do this! She posted about the new and improved brushes from Target and I ran to see if my Target had them… Yippee! They did (not online =( ). Okay, it’s not solely her fault (Lurve you are one of the enablers!) but I am a total brush whore right now.
So what’s new and improved?
New: this rounded taklon brush. I tried to save the packaging so that I could give you guys the exact name, but sorry. Trash goes fast around here. I like this for emollient based stuff; blending the paint pots, etc.
Fluff shader brush. I had a shader brush from S.K.’s white handled line and it was thin. This is fluffy and I haven’t seen it before. I suppose that it’s new to the line. Got other one similar, but another won’t hurt.
New: crease brush! (on the left) compared to the old one (on the right). The old one on the right is super soft and over time has spread. So the control isn’t as precise as the new and improved crease blending brush. The new one, on the left, is more pointed/domed shaped, dense and firmer! Me likey ALOT! Def go get this!
Here they all are pictured together (l-r domed taklon brush, fluff shader brush, old crease brush, the new and improved crease brush!)
Have you all checked them out yet? What do you think?

So I’m sitting (well laying) here watching the 11 o’clock news on channel 7 and I find myself bothered.
Why you ask?
Because the weatherman is horrible!! And I mean BAD! He’s using all these big meteorologist words that I have no clue what they mean! What ever happened to just saying its gonna rain? Why be so technical. And he looks like plastic! He looks so fake…too much time at the tanning salon my guy.
Thank God he’s just filling in for the regular guy.
And this talk of rain is making me really want to buy those Marc Jacobs Rubber Rain boots (at $28, why the hell not?!)
Also bothering me in the evening news: our favorite supermodel (and my homegirl) got arrested, AGAIN!
YUP! Naomi Campbell got arrested for spitting in a cop’s face. I must admit…she’s pretty ballsy- she’s got major cajones.
I still love her.

Ever since I first saw the ruched up flats over at Tods (above) many many many years ago, I’ve wanted a pair. Not because I thought it looked especially pretty over other flats, but simply because I thought the ruched up thing is just so cool, even though I know that it is all probably an attention grabbing gimmick, since obviously once you are wearing them no one can see the ruch anyway and they will look like normal flats. But alas, there were so many other items on my “want” list that were even cuter that I never really got around to it.
Recently I finally got a pair of ruched flats. Not exactly the Tods one, but they’re ruched and they’re even cuter, like the two above from Miu Miu (left) and Botch (right). The other night I happily took it out for a test drive and OUCH they hurt! The two points at the side in the front and at the back. Being a seasoned shoe lover, I’ve been tortured by pretty but painful shoes enough to have tougher more blister proof feet by now, but after a day, I was walking funny in difference to the pain. They are really good quality shoes too from a brand that I’ve never had a problem with before! Which brings me to my question, are ruched flats in general a pain to wear or is it just mine ? And if so, WHY do people persist in producing them when really they don’t create much aesthetic value unless you are not wearing them?
Mine are patent leather, which I know makes a difference. But physically speaking, the ruch DOES add more pressure points to the feet since the feet has to stretch them out and all to keep their shape…….
And come to think of it, why do brands like Tory Burch (left) and Urban Outfitters (right) produce flats with ruches at the back? They look cuter, but once you wear them and stretch it out, one really can’t see it. Do they make the fit of the shoe better or add to the pain by adding another pressure point?

What is it? Lancome’s Hypnose Custom Volume Mascara gives you “custom volume you control for hypnotic eyes. Dare to go up to 6 times the volume. With each stroke, the patented POWERFULL™ brush intensifies lashes from root to tip. Exclusive, fluid SoftSculpt™ formula, enriched with Vitamin B5, wraps lashes one luxurious layer at a time without smearing, smudging or clumping.” Available at Sephora and department stores for $23.50.
What did you think? I’ve been on a mascara kick lately! Mascara is probably my favorite beauty product, so I’ve been more than happy to try out lots of mascaras for the interest of this blog.
Anyway…for $23.50 for mascara, I have high standards. I expect for a mascara with this price tag to transform my boring lashes to long, thick, luscious, fluttery lashes. I want it to feel good, to go on clump-free, to smell decent, to give me lovely lashes, to wear for hours without a smudge, and to wash off easily.
So how did Lancome’s Hypnose do? So-so. Here’s what’s good: it goes on easily and does provide quite a bit of length. It made my lashes look good, but not great. It does stay on for a long time without smudging or smearing and it isn’t as hard to wash off as some other brands I’ve tried (smashbox…I’m talking to you!). Now for the bad: the wand is wimpy looking and gets junked up. The cap is curved and is rather short, so it’s hard to grasp on to when applying. Getting into detail work is extremely difficult. To top it all off, it smells funky.
The final verdict? Another pricey mascara that gives only average results. Seriously, Great Lash does just a good a job as this mascara and is only a fraction of the price. If you want an expensive mascara, I’ll say it yet again: go with Lorac Lotsa Lash. Or, just save your money and get Great Lash. Whatevs.
