Gisele Bundchen and James LeBron for Vogue April 2008 Cover »

The April cover of Vogue magazine will feature basketball superstar, LeBron James and fashion supermodel, Gisele Bundchen. It is only the third time ever a man has graced the cover of the magazine after George Clooney and Richard Gere. This would break all the rules of a Vogue cover because according to some observations: Anna Wintour seldom put on her cover: (a) more than one model, (b) a man, (c) a person of color.

The issue features a story about top athletes and supermodels. Grab a copy of it for it’s something you don’t see every day on the cover of Vogue magazine.

Beauty Product of the Week: Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Body Polish »

What is it? According to their website, Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Soy Milk and Honey Body Polish is a “luxurious, creamy formula with Shea and Jojoba Butters and Sweet Almond Oil blended with ground Luffa Fruit to exfoliate body skin without drying. With the addition of Pure Honey and Soy Milk Protein, our body polish nurtures skin, leaving it comfortably soft, smooth, and primed for moisturization.” Available at Kiehl’s for $27.50 for a 6.8 oz tube.

What did you think? With Winter winding down, it’s time to get ready for warmer weather. One way of doing that is to wash away all those nasty dead skin cells to reinvigorate your skin. This “body polish” is just the thing to do it! I’ve been using this for several days now. When I rub it over my body in the shower, it feels good. It’s not too harsh, but I can tell that it’s doing something good to my skin. When I get out of the shower, my skin feels so smooth, so soft…so perfect. I even find myself touching my skin during the day, amazed and pleased at how smooth and moisturized it feels. When I don’t use the body polish, I can tell. My skin just doesn’t feel as good.

The final verdict? It may seem pricey, but I’ve tried plenty of other body scrubs. This one is far superior. It has a gentle scent (unlike Soap and Glory’s body scrub that smells very strongly like super sweet candy), it’s not a scary fake color (like Bath and Body Works bright blue spa scrub) and a little goes a long way. Kiehl’s Creme de Corp Soy Milk and Honey Body Polish is worth every scent. It’s gentle yet effective and provides amazing, long lasting results. Try it…you’ll like it!

S/S08 Trend: Jumpsuits Continued »

Last June, I blogged about how I didn’t particularly like jumpsuits. And after looking through the S/S08 collections on style.com, I thought jumpsuits have become a thing of 2007. But it seems like my brain was so desperate for this trend to be over that it just missed the jumpsuits in the S/S collections. Vogue.co.uk identifies them:

Stella McCartney designed a few printed, light-weight, long-sleeved jumpsuits. They look like they’re for people who are bumming around the countryside, and the one in the middle looks like PJs.
Bottega Veneta and Moschino both had tailored, summery-looking jumpsuits.

Many highstreet retailers have jumped on board and are now selling them:
Urban Outfitters (US) has a few styles. These are very casual and relaxed looking. These are way too casual and PJ-looking for me, but believe me, the models in these jumpsuits look very cool in UO’s Spring catalogue images!
Even Lacoste (left) came out with a preppy version of jumpsuit. And the blue jumpsuit on the left (from UO) looks very LA-style.
Jumpsuits like this red, camisole version by Top Shop is one big reason why I don’t like this trend. Seriously, does anyone actually just wear this and walk around the streets? Talk about cheap-looking and skimpy!
Although to be fair, Top Shop is also selling these two cute versions. (To my horror,) I actually really like the flower-printed jumpsuit on the left. It probably wouldn’t suit me and I certainly won’t dish out 45 pounds for something I won’t wear often, but I can image it would look cool on certain people (like the people in Nylon magazine and Top Shop ads.)

2 months back, Vogue UK had a page or two featuring around 4 people photographed in different style of jumpsuits. They all looked fantastic of course and there were quotes from them proclaiming their love for jumpsuits. In the following few weeks, a couple of UK newspapers’ websites also sang their praises for jumpsuits. But at the end of day, I just don’t ‘get’ jumpsuits. I really don’t think jumpsuits are versatile at all. I mean, wouldn’t having the pants/shorts and tees/tops seperate be much more versatile to mix-and-match? Oh well, I suspect I’m just very biased towards disliking the fashion from the time period when jumpsuits were popular (-the 80’s right?) Let’s hope we’ll stop seeing jumpsuits around next S/S!

Product Review: Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion »

Reviewer: Cinnamon Kitten

Brand:
Urban Decay
Name: Eyeshadow Primer Potion
Size: XXXXX
Approx. Price: $18 CAD

As some of you may know, I love my MAC Paint in Untitled as my eyeshadow primer. It’s a nearly nude shade of Paint that comes in a tube, is super easy to apply and makes my eyeshadow and eyeliner last all day until I take it off with makeup remover.

I’ve tried other eye-area primers (ie. Clinique) with not-as-good results, so I’ve always stuck to MAC. However, on a recent trip to Sephora, a friend of mine mentioned how much she loved this Urban Decay product so I had to give it a try.
Packaged in a cute lilac genie-inspired bottle, this product is “an ultra-sheer, totally nude eye base that glides on with the wave of a wand and then disappears instantly. It’s the ultimate eye prep for smoother, longer-lasting, crease-proof eyeshadow.” (description from Sephora’s web site)

To Purr About:
- although when first applied, there’s a slightly white colour, when dry, this product is completely clear

- it takes a few seconds to dry and immediately I could feel the area that I applied it to was feeling primed and ready for makeup

- this primer didn’t change the shade of my liner or shadow at all

- did really make my makeup last all day and didn’t come off until removed with eye makeup remover

- built-in sponge-tip applicator makes it easy to apply
Claws Out:
- it’s a little more liquid than I’m used to with most primers (face or eye-specific) so it takes a little practice to get the right amount onto your eyelid with the sponge applicator

- sponge applicator is a little long so it’s sometimes hard to control when you’re talking precision application in the eye area

Final Comments:
I must admit that this may be my new eyelid primer after my current supply of MAC Paint runs out. The one thing it has over the Paint is the fact that it’s clear - sometimes if I’m sloppy you can see the Paint on my eyes because of the slight pink colour. With the Primer Potion there’s no chance of that happening. I’m in love! It’s rare that a new product bumps another out of my regular routine, but I think this may have happened!
