Modern Cinderella: The story of a Dior shoe »

Once upon a time, in the far away land of Paris, there was a huge Dior clearance, and the princess was ready to fight her enemies (i.e. women with the same shoe size) in order to win many many prizes.
Everybody fought at their best, and the princess was lucky and smart (she thought) to win not one, but 4 awards (i.e. shoe pairs) of the precious Dior shoes.

Back home, the princess tried her new possessions, one by one, with a growing delight as each pair was more amazing then the last. Till the last one, which, by accident, had one shoe a different size then the other.

Years passed, and the unlucky Dior shoes remained closed in the wardrobe, because the princess did not had the heart to throw away such perfect shoes. That is until few months ago, when the princess met a skillful shoe maker, which, by magic, was able to make the larger shoes the same size as the other.

Happy ending! End of story! Can wait for summer, so i can proudly wear my new (reborn) Dior sandals.

SS08 Prada: Nappa Stripes Multicolor »

Since I have been dressed in dull safe colors for a few months now (with the exception of Chinese New Year, but that’s another story), it was completely refreshing when I stepped into the Prada store the other day and was immediately struck by a vibrant bold rainbow of colors coming at me!
I immediately rushed (very dignified-ly of course) to get a better look at them. My first reaction? LOVE. They are the perfect vibrant eye candies to brighten up my wardrobe this SS!
My second reaction was: Which COLOR?? They’re all soo darling! I just want to gobble them up like candy!

Then I qualified: Most of them anyway, with the exception of this lime green and maroon color combo here (left). Or maybe its just too murky compared to the rest. Style-wise, I think the regular size hobos in this multicolor print is just a bit too much, too loud. You’d have to match it with a REALLY plain monotonous outfit for it to look decent. The smaller bags, like the small/mini hobos (right) on the other hand strike the perfect balance, bring in a just the right amount of WHAM without being too loud. Plus, since the clash will be less, you’ll have a wider wardrobe choice. But the thing about the small/mini hobos is that they’re a bit too small. First the strap is so short that one cannot carry it comfortably on the shoulder. Even with the longer extra strap, it takes away from the hobo look. But then, if you carry it, its just so small that it looks like you are carrying a little girl’s bag (especially with the bright colors). And so I personally think that the clutch (left) is the best way to carry this multicolor pattern. Its small enough not to be too loud but still have the WHAM effect, and the style is just right to carry.
Its just perfect!
And after THAT in depth analysis I of course started seeing these gorgeous ads everywhere. I love how they just pop out at you!
And I really like the gold/black combination as well. They are sharp and bold, but unlike the other ones which are very pretty and girly, these ones are edgy and cool! This combo works as a regular size hobo too.
But alas, my mom sensibly pointed out that these bags will be very dated in a few months and is totally not worth it. So another stylish option would be this plain purple version of the Nappa Stripes bag, which still has the vibrant color effect, albeit in a more sophisticated way. This one, you can even very comfortably carry on your shoulders- I tried! Its stunning! If only it wasn’t so pricey! Another very cute bag at Prada I’d like to point to is this Botegga Venetta-esque weave tote. Its cute!

Skin Care »

Your skin is your armor, your shield from the elements. Yet when was the last time you really thought about what you need to do to take care of it? Throughout your life, genetic and environmental factors will cause a lot of wear and tear to your skin. But you are never too young or too old to start taking care of your skin. In fact, skin care and protection should be an essential part of your health, fitness, and beauty regime. If you take care of your skin, your skin will take care of you! If your stuck in a skin care rut, or if you are just looking to learn a bit more about the basics of skin care, read on to learn more about this important step in your daily activities.

The Essentials of Skin Care

The first step to taking care of your skin is preventing damage. Sun, wind, pollutants, and simply aging can degrade the condition of your skin. Common complaints include dry and itchy skin, wrinkles, sagging, color changes, and age spots. There are steps that you can take to keep you skin looking and feeling its best.

Exercise, rest, and good nutrition lay the foundation for beautiful, healthy skin, inside and out. A proper diet is not only good for your overall health, it also helps to ensure that your skin will receive all of the vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that it needs to maintain and repair cells. Drinking purified water is another good way to keep your skin healthy. Water helps to hydrate the skin and move waste and nutrients through the system. It is very effective mixing a teaspoon or capful of Organic Apple Cider Vinegar in with your water. Do not drink Tap Water.

The most important way to care for your skin is to protect it from the damaging rays of the sun. Ultraviolet radiation damages the skin and can lead to wrinkles, premature aging, age spots, and cancer. Take extra precautions to make sure your skin is not exposed to the sun’s rays. Use a natural sunscreen, or a moisturizer that contains sunscreen (at least SPF 15) everyday. Your skin does need some sunlight – 10-15 minutes of direct exposure daily.

Dry skin is very common, especially with age. Older skin has fewer sweat and oil glands than younger skin. Dry skin may be caused by frequent baths, certain cosmetics or medications. But whatever the cause, there are ways to alleviate the itchiness associated with it. Avoid using harsh soaps when bathing, and if possible, cut back on the number of baths or showers each week. A sponge bath with warm water may help to clean and revive skin without stripping the skin of its valuable moisturizers. When you do use soap, try using a natural very mild soap that does not contain any dyes, parabens or perfumes. Follow up the bath with a moisturizing lotion like Parfait Visage, concentrating on problem dry areas. A good all natural moisturizer is one of the foundations for a healthy skin care regimen. Continue moisturizing throughout the day to keep skin healthy. Your hands and face are particularly susceptible to daily damage, and may need to be moisturized several times.

A Skin Care Routine

A skin care routine does not have to be elaborate in order to be effective. But you should develop some kind of skin care routine based on your skin type, daily activities, and nutritional needs so that you can be sure you are taking the very best care of your skin. Following a daily skin care regime will also allow you to more closely evaluate your skin for abnormalities. Here’s a simple routine that you can adapt to fit your needs:

1. Cleanse: Wash your skin thoroughly on a daily basis to remove the dirt, debris, pollutants, and perspiration that accumulates on a daily basis. If you have dry or sensitive skin, use only warm water to wash your skin and use a mild natural cleanser every few days like the product Oxy-Skin. If you have normal or oily skin, be sure to wash with a gentle cleanser on a daily basis. Be sure to brush your teeth before washing your face, as toothpaste residue can irritate sensitive facial skin.
2. Moisturize: Unless your skin is very oily, you will want to use a moisturizer everyday to keep your skin hydrated and healthy. Your skin needs moisturizer all year long as both the indoor winter heat, and summer sun can be equally damaging to your skin. The most advanced product is “Parfait Visage” which is used for the face.
3. Protect: Use a natural sunscreen when possible, regardless of whether or not you plan on spending much time in the sun. The sun’s rays are very damaging and if you get in the habit of applying sunscreen everyday, you will never be left without protection. The suns most beneficial rays occur at sunrise and sunset.

Skin Care Products

There are several types of skin care products that may make a useful additional to your daily skin care. These include cleansers, sunscreens, moisturizers, exfoliants, facial cleansers, toners, retonoids, herbal and nutrient supplements, and cosmetics.

Make-up Trend: Shimmery Blush »

Let there be light! Our favorite pretty, Katrina Kaif perks up her skin with a heavenly glow in the pages of this month’s Verve magazine. What do you need to get the most alluring flush? Not too much frost (it can look too young) or too little shine (matte looks flat), but just the right subtle, healthy gleam.

Tilt your product into the light to see if your formula glimmers. It’ll look even more dimensional on the curves of your face. Pass up anything with sparkles or an overall chalky, powdery finish.

Therefore, your prom hairstyle must compliment your outfit, your make-up, as well as your attitude on the prom day.

Remember, not every type of hair color or hair style would go with you, but there is certainly a look that would work for you. You should aim at looking not only beautiful on your prom night, but also more confident and comfortable in your new hair style. So, you must plan in advance if you don’t want to miss this opportunity to look attractive and poised on your prom day.

You can choose a perfect prom hairstyle that goes well with your type of hair. Let’s have a look at some of the most attractive yet easy prom hairstyles:

Long Prom hairstyle

For long prom hairstyle, first wash your hair and dry it. Then, start rolling your hair from the middle. Roll the rest of the hair using a SASSY curler. Once you have rolled your hair, you need to wait for at least half an hour, and then start unrolling the hair. If you want, you can make a pony tail and decorate it with your hair ornaments. That’s an ideal prom hair style if you have long hair.

Short Prom hairstyle

If you have short, rough hair, which you may fine hard to curl, you use the prom hairstyle s described here. Shampoo and dry your hair. Use a DO-Z comb to part your hair in zig-zag style and use hair gel to soften your hair. Now, start rolling your hair using SASSY curler. Continue rolling until you have rolled the entire area you want to curl. Once done, let your hair dry for nearly half an hour. Start unrolling hair and arrange the curls the way you want by using a DO-Z comb. Finally, decorate hair using hair ornaments that go well with your dress.

Formal Prom hairstyle

Formal hair style goes with medium texture, long, and one-length hair. You need to mix small to medium sections of hair and start rolling your hair using hair curlers. Once done, let your hair dry for next half an hour, and then start removing the sassy curlers. Part the top section of hair and pin it up. Likewise, take the bottom section of the hair and roll it into a French twist. Use bobby pins to secure it at the right position. Now, back-comb the top section of the hair using a DO-Z comb and pin your hair. You must arrange the curls carefully and decorate it with appropriate hair jewelry. You can leave some hair if you are looking for a softer look on your face.

So, choose a prom hairstyle that flatters your body and immediately fetches you all the attention in your prom. It makes sense to choose and practice this hairstyle prior to your prom night. You should know which hairstyle would look best according to your physique. There are different hairstyles for people with different body-built.
