Ungaro, Oscar, Chanel [madison and 5th], Dior, Tod’s, Gucci loves NY »

So I know the posting has been irregular. School, thesis, thesis, thesis, omg thesis, pre-fashion week drama, thesis, school, thesis! Anyways while I’m stressing myself into early grays at the tender age of 21, I was hoping that my faithful readers would be so kind as to pass a link to my blog along to at least one person. I think it’d be nice to grow a bit more and allow people to catch up before I’m back to the swing of things. The official link is modelizing.com . Back to the slaveship known as senior year at Parsons.

Thanks for being patient <3

Not the best image…like by any stretch of anyones imagination, but the new Gucci store on 5th opens next week and I’m geeking about the future windows. I hope that they are lit more like the Madison store, the current 5th ave store is nearly impossible to shoot.

Product Review: Imju Fiberwig Mascara »

aka: “Baby, I’m so imju you…”

Right, so that plan (see last post) didn’t work out. Along with some birthday festivities (fun!) and some car problems (horrible! I think it’s over for the poor Glitter-mobile…) and some concert action (Michael Bublé = delicious!), there simply wasn’t time for posting.

But through all of that, my lashes stayed pretty, thanks to Imju’s Fiberwig Mascara.

Promising a theatrical falsies-like effect, Imju Fiberwig deposits little fibers onto the tips of your lashes, adding length and colour in one step. I really wish they hadn’t mentioned the “falsies” factor though — while this mascara provides good length, separation, and a nice glossy black colour, it doesn’t do much for volume. So those looking for full, fluttery, fat lashes will be disappointed.

I do love this mascara for an everyday look though. It’s what I had wanted Clinique’s Long and Pretty Lashes to be. (Instead, that one gave me long, pretty, smeary lashes.) Imju’s Fiberwig does not smear. Ever. I have partied and slept and cried in this stuff and it just doesn’t smear. If you get it wet and start rubbing at it, it will flake off a bit, but that’s it. Perfect for conferences or important meetings where you want something on your lashes, but simply cannot have smudging.

So yes, Fiberwig, I’m totally into you. And at under $13 (plus ship) on Sasa.com , I think I can see you in my future.

Color Nirvana »

Mark your calendars! On February 6th, OPI unveils their new color collection for the Spring/Summer of 2008. After sending us to Russia over the Winter with their amazing, luscious, rich colors (Russian Navy, anyone?!), OPI is seeking inspiration from India.

The Indian Collection promises color nirvana and includes 12 spicy and exotic nail lacquers. Some colors seem pretty and pink, others are richer…there are plenty of reds, deep oranges, and elegant golds. Since it’s still Winter, I’m digging the Black Cherry Currant and Royal Rajah Ruby, though Charmed by a Snake looks promising.

Take a peek for yourself:
Colors from left to right, top to bottom:

  • I’m Indi-A Mood for Love
  • Elephantastic Pink
  • Black Cherry Chutney
  • Keys to My Karma
  • Monsooner or Later

  • Yoga-Ta Get This Blue
  • Get Me to the Taj on Time

An Ode to the Maxi Dress. By Melanie Moss. »

maxi

Oh maxi dress how fond of thee am I

Thy flattering jersey hangs softly at my side

You leave me free to butter my bread each side

As I don’t need to worry about the thighs I need to hide

I love a good maxi dress, have been wearing them for years. Born into a family without the best legs, they been my saving grace on many an occasion. I do worry about my daughter though as I pass on the family curse, although to look on the bright side I do have a smaller than usual waist…….

This summers fashion is built on the foundation made last season by designers with maxi dresses appearing on catwalks, in the windows of chainstores and even on the stage of Idol, not that I watch it…..

The trick to a good maxi dress is to play up your assets and hide the rest. You don’t want some unsuspecting stranger to walk up to you on the street, pat your belly and ask when you are due. Too much excess fabric isn’t good for anybody and in particular with the maxi dress.

The best styles to choose in this case are the triangle bust styles. Tree of Life have done a great range of printed maxi dresses this year in a halter style that brings the eye upwards. You can further emphasise what God gave you with an oversized necklace, try Dinosaur Designs or Diva.

On the flip side, a maxi dress can be great for pregnancy. Jersey is the pick of the bunch here and you need look no further than Just Jeans. Plenty of fabric in the bust, plus wide straps to cover those awful bras they make us wear.

Everyone looks good strapless especially those of us needing to add a little shape. Grab a cotton boobtube with built in bra from Supre and their printed strapless jersey dress with keyhole detail. Match with oversized earrings and diamonte flats from Country Road, grab a martini and sit by the pool feeling fabulous. Perfect for mums with toddlers, not only are you comfortable, you will be the envy of the pram pack for your effortless style.

You could even say that the maxi dress is sun smart and economical. By covering yourself from the neck down you are not only fashionable in the extreme but you are saving yourself from hours of sunscreen application!

What a clever little piece of clothing you are dear maxi dress…………….

recuento haute couture: chanel S/S 08 »
